A GOOD WIFE: according to the Bible

A GOOD WIFE: according to the Bible

Nagging, complaining, unfaithful wife

Pro 19:13  A foolish son brings disgrace to his father. A nagging wife goes on and on like the drip, drip, drip of the rain.
Pro 21:9  It's better to stay outside on the roof of your house than to live inside with a nagging wife.
Pro 21:19  It's better out in the desert than at home with a nagging, complaining wife.
Pro 25:24  It's better to stay outside on the roof of your house than to live inside with a nagging wife.
Pro 27:15  The steady dripping of rain and the nagging of a wife are one and the same.
Pro 27:16  It's easier to catch the wind or hold olive oil in your hand than to stop a nagging wife.
Pro 30:20  An unfaithful wife says, "Sleeping with another man is as natural as eating."

A good wife: according to the Bible

Pro 12:4  A helpful wife is a jewel for her husband, but a shameless wife will make his bones rot.
Pro 31:10  A truly good wife is the most precious treasure a man can find!
Pro 31:11  Her husband depends on her, and she never lets him down.
Pro 31:12  She is good to him every day of her life,
Pro 31:13  and with her own hands she gladly makes clothes.
Pro 31:14  She is like a sailing ship that brings food from across the sea.
Pro 31:15  She gets up before daylight to prepare food for her family and for her servants.
Pro 31:16  She knows how to buy land and how to plant a vineyard,
Pro 31:17  and she always works hard.
Pro 31:18  She knows when to buy or sell, and she stays busy until late at night.
Pro 31:19  She spins her own cloth,
Pro 31:20  and she helps the poor and the needy.
Pro 31:21  Her family has warm clothing, and so she doesn't worry when it snows.
Pro 31:22  She does her own sewing, and everything she wears is beautiful.
Pro 31:23  Her husband is a well-known and respected leader in the city.
Pro 31:24  She makes clothes to sell to the shop owners.
Pro 31:25  She is strong and graceful, as well as cheerful about the future.
Pro 31:26  Her words are sensible, and her advice is thoughtful.
Pro 31:27  She takes good care of her family and is never lazy.
Pro 31:28  Her children praise her, and with great pride her husband says,
Pro 31:29  "There are many good women, but you are the best!"
Pro 31:30  Charm can be deceiving, and beauty fades away, but a woman who honors the LORD deserves to be praised.
Pro 31:31  Show her respect-- praise her in public for what she has done.

How or where can you find a good wife?

Pro 18:22  A man's greatest treasure is his wife-- she is a gift from the LORD.
Pro 19:14  You may inherit all you own from your parents, but a sensible wife is a gift from the LORD.

When God has blessed you with a good wife, then you should be faithful to her, respect and be happy with her all the days of your life.

Respect your wife

Heb 13:4  Have respect for marriage. Always be faithful to your partner, because God will punish anyone who is immoral or unfaithful in marriage.

Col 3:19  A husband must love his wife and not abuse her.

Enjoy being with your wife

Ecc 9:9  Life is short, and you love your wife, so enjoy being with her. This is what you are supposed to do as you struggle through life on this earth.

wife's duty as a follower of the Lord

Col 3:18  A wife must put her husband first. This is her duty as a follower of the Lord.

1Pe 3:1  If you are a wife, you must put your husband first. Even if he opposes our message, you will win him over by what you do. No one else will have to say anything to him,

Children are God's blessing

Psa 113:9  When a wife has no children, he blesses her with some, and she is happy. Shout praises to the LORD!

Psa 128:1  The LORD will bless you if you respect him and obey his laws.
Psa 128:2  Your fields will produce, and you will be happy and all will go well.
Psa 128:3  Your wife will be as fruitful as a grapevine, and just as an olive tree is rich with olives, your home will be rich with healthy children.
Psa 128:4  That is how the LORD will bless everyone who respects him.

Warnings, Commandments, Rules, Instructions

Exo 20:17  Do not want anything that belongs to someone else. Don't want anyone's house, wife or husband, slaves, oxen, donkeys or anything else.

Lev 18:14  Don't disgrace your uncle by having sex with his wife.

Lev 18:18  As long as your wife is alive, don't cause trouble for her by taking one of her sisters as a second wife.

Lev 18:20  Don't have sex with another man's wife--that would make you unclean.

Deu 5:21  "You shall not covet your neighbor's wife. You shall not set your desire on your neighbor's house or land, his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor."

1Th 4:3  God wants you to be holy, so don't be immoral in matters of sex.
1Th 4:4  Respect and honor your wife.

1Pe 3:7  If you are a husband, you should be thoughtful of your wife. Treat her with honor, because she isn't as strong as you are, and she shares with you in the gift of life. Then nothing will stand in the way of your prayers.

Be faithful

Pro 5:15  You should be faithful to your wife, just as you take water from your own well.
Pro 5:17  Save yourself for your wife and don't have sex with other women.
Pro 5:18  Be happy with the wife you married when you were young.
Pro 6:26  A woman who sells her love can be bought for as little as the price of a meal. But making love to another man's wife will cost you everything.
Pro 6:29  And if you go to bed with another man's wife, you pay the price.
Pro 6:32  But if you go to bed with another man's wife, you will destroy yourself by your own stupidity.
